Carson City area weather: First week of fall looks to be warm, sunny and breezy
Heading into this first full week of fall, temperatures around Carson City and surrounding counties will feel like early summer, with daytime highs in mid 80s for the next few days and the low to mid 70s for the Lake Tahoe Basin, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Light winds will prevail for most of the week, with two breezy periods, the first Wednesday and again this weekend, with Wednesday producing gusts 20 mph to 30 mph. With the dry conditions and low humidity expected, it could produce isolated areas of critical fire weather conditions for far northern Washoe County, NWS forecasters said.
Temperatures will cool down a bit, 3 to 4 degrees in the wake of the front on Thursday with lighter breezes prevailing. Temperatures will warm back into the upper 80s on Friday across western Nevada before another round of breezy southwest winds on Saturday with gusts of 25 mph to 35 mph in the afternoon.
This could produce another period of localized critical fire weather conditions along with choppy waters on area lakes, according to NWS forecasters.
By Sunday, seasonable weather will be in place with dry conditions and fair to poor overnight humidity recoveries continuing across western Nevada mid-slopes and ridge tops, forecasters note.
It will be sunny throughout the week in Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas with temperatures in the mid 80s Tuesday and Wednesday, low 80s on Thursday, mid 80s Friday and Saturday with low 80s on Sunday.
For the Lake Tahoe Basin, the sunshine continues with temperatures in the low to mid 70s throughout the week and into the weekend.
