Washoe State Tree Nursery announces fall hours, reopens Thursday
As fall begins, the Washoe State Tree Nursery will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 a.m. Located at 885 Eastlake Boulevard in New Washoe City, this nursery is operated by the Nevada Division of Forestry and offers native and adapted plants for landscaping and conservation.
“Fall is the one of the best times to plant trees and perennials in Nevada,” says Cory King, nursery manager for the Nevada Division of Forestry. “The soil’s still warm, and it holds moisture better than in summer, so trees don’t have as much trouble with transplant stress.”
The public can choose among 18 species of trees, 24 types of shrubs, and an assortment of flowers and grasses, with no restrictions on customer’s parcel size or location.
This fall, Sept. 26 to Oct. 12, the nursery will be open from Thursday through Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Don't miss this chance to stock up on plants suited for Nevada’s unique climate.
