Carson River Coalition's Watershed Wednesdays wraps up with focus on floodplain management
After four weeks of content, the annual Carson River Coalition Watershed Forum wraps up with a final session on March 31st. Hosted by the Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD), the last installment of Watershed Wednesdays will dive into Floodplain Management in the Carson River Watershed.
Presentations will focus on FEMA funded projects and mapping initiatives which reduce flood risk in our communities. Learn from engineers, resource & floodplain managers, planners, and a funding expert about flood mitigation planning, project implementation, and funding opportunities. Participants are encouraged to join the live Zoom Q&A call at 11:30 am with our panel of experts. A complete agenda for this session is on the Watershed Wednesdays app produced by CWSD.
All five weeks of amazing presentations from the Watershed Wednesdays’ forum series highlight integrated watershed management in action. The wide range of topics, from online educational curriculum, recreational trails, protection strategies for our floodplains, Nevada’s Climate Plan, and regenerative agricultural management, emphasize the synergies within the work taking place around the Carson River Watershed. All previous sessions will remain available on the Carson River Watershed YouTube channel.
The Floodplain Management session of Watershed Wednesdays provides an opportunity for participants to learn more about flood risk management and how these efforts improve water quality and the health of our watershed.
