After four weeks of content, the annual Carson River Coalition Watershed Forum wraps up with a final session on March 31st. Hosted by the Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD), the last installment of Watershed Wednesdays will dive into Floodplain Management in the Carson River Watershed.

Day 1 events will focus on water quality and watershed health from our science and land management partners.

Nevada water resources specialist receives national award for flood, Tahoe clarity work

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Water Resources Specialist John Cobourn has received a national award for his innovative approaches in programs addressing flash floods, environmentally friendly landscaping, Lake Tahoe’s water quality, and other water issues in northern Nevada.

2016 Get on the Bus Carson River Watershed Tour

The Carson Water Subconservancy District is offering a bus tour of the Carson River Watershed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 7 and 8, 2016. The Carson River Watershed “Get on the Bus” Tour will cover a variety of watershed topics and locations from the headwaters in Alpine County, CA to the terminus at the Carson Sink near Fallon, NV.

Roop Street, Carson City, NV. Daniel P. Beard, Former Commissioner at the Bureau of Reclamation and Author of Deadbeat Dams is the keynote speaker. His talk will give a unique perspective on water issues and policies facing the western states.

Carson River Film Festival on Thursday

Join the Carson River Coalition Education Working Group for the annual Carson River Film Festival. It will be Thursday, Jan. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Ormsby Room at the Carson City Sheriff’s Building, 911 Musser Street in Carson CIty

View and help judge some great films made by local students. The event is free.

Carson River Coalition ramps effort to fight aquatic invasive species threat

While much-needed attention is being paid to Lake Tahoe regarding invasive species such as the quagga mussel and Asian clams, there is growing concern among local wildlife biologists and water scientists of similar threats along the Carson River watershed.
