The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Nevada Chapter developed an innovative modeling system to guide and improve land management actions, like ecosystem restoration, that has helped land managers improve their return on investment. A $750,000 grant from the Bretzlaff Foundation, a family foundation based in Nevada, will advance the chapter’s Landscape Conservation forecasting system and integrate its predictive vegetation modeling with sociopolitical modeling.

A 28-year-old Incline Village man was arrested early Thursday morning in the 4100 block of S. Carson Street for a second DUI, failure to maintain a lane, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving with an open container in the vehicle, failure to lead to an emergency vehicle, and driving without proof of insurance.

In 1991, the 45,000-square-foot V&T Roundhouse in Carson City was demolished over the course of five weeks in a decision that was as controversial then as it remains today. However, the memory of it is still with many Carson City residents, and a move to install one of the arches of the historic building is currently being discussed.

An underdog once again, Carson City’s Diego Elizondo boxes Saturday in a nationally televised bout.

The 22-year-old lightweight with a 3-2-2 record will face highly touted Anthony Cuba, who won his professional debut Oct. 31 with a second-round knockout. In previous televised fight cards, it was uncertain beforehand whether Elizondo’s bout would be included on the broadcast. Not this time.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday evening to the 2400 block of Hunt Circle for a fire that had threatened a residence after it had spread from a nearby trailer. The fire was quickly extinguished before entering the home.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 that there are 19 new cases and 29 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 11,161, with 8,848 recoveries and 207 deaths; 2,106 cases remain active.

The Carson City Library opened this week following the building’s closure to the public over the last few months. While closed, the library made great strides to ensure access while keeping in mind public safety including the installation of an automated book return and sorting system.
