Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday evening to the 2400 block of Hunt Circle for a fire that had threatened a residence after it had spread from a nearby trailer. The fire was quickly extinguished before entering the home.
The fire was called into dispatch at around 9:55 p.m. and was initially reported to be a cargo trailer on fire. When firefighters arrived the trailer was fully engulfed with flames moving toward the garage of a nearby residence.
A first responding Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy and nearby neighbors reported hearing an explosion prior to firefighters arriving. The residence was evacuated. No injuries were reported.
CCFD was able to knock down the fire before it went into the main structure of the home, according to a battalion chief via dispatch. It is unclear if flames reached the garage portion of the residence. Forward progress was stopped at 10:10 p.m. A fire engine and rescue team remained on scene to douse any hot spots.
Hunter Circle is off of Gentry Lane in southeast Carson City. A fire investigator, NV Energy and Southwest Gas have responded. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
