After months of meetings and negotiations with the property owners, trustees with the Carson City School District agreed Tuesday to move forward with the purchase of the former church property on 1600 Snyder Avenue.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP program is seeking a part-time homemaker to provide assistance to Carson City Seniors in need of essential homemaker services.

Homemakers are contract employees who can earn $10 an hour for approximately 20 hours a week.

Duties include homemaker and chore assistance with housekeeping such as dusting, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, floor maintenance, laundry and linen changing for individuals 60 and older.

RENO — Wilber Martinez-Guzman appeared in a Reno courtroom Monday, October 21, 2019 as his attorneys argued for a delay in the case.
Martinez-Guzman is accused of killing a Reno couple, Jerry and Sherri David, and Sophia Renken and Connie Koontz in their Gardnerville homes within a period of 10 days in early January 2019.

CARSON CITY — The First Judicial Court Felony DUI Program has received $30,000 in grant funding for the 2019-2020 fiscal year from Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety.

A 40-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.

CARSON CITY — Initial claims for unemployment insurance benefits totaled just over 8,400 in September, down over 1,200 claims, or 12.8 percent compared to August, according to the latest figures compiled by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. Relative to September 2018, claims are up 1.8 percent, with 150 more claims.

A 33-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man were arrested by Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team deputies in the area of North Edmonds Drive for suspected possession of methamphetamine. The woman also faces charges of possession of stolen credit cards and having a burglary tool.
