Area Veterans Invited to Attend to Veterans Day Assembly at Sierra Lutheran High School on November 6
CARSON CITY — Sierra Lutheran is inviting area veterans to attend a special Veterans Day assembly at the school on Wednesday, November 6, in the Norm Brauer Gymnasium from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m., as part of its annual “Remembering And Honoring Our Heroes.”
The focus of the commemorative ceremony will be to educate students and interested community members on the history of Veterans Day, while also taking time to salute veterans in attendance.
The program will include the signing of patriotic songs, a message by Navy Chaplain Lieutenant Christopher J. Morgan from the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, and the recognition of area veterans in attendance. Following the event, students and guests will have the opportunity to view a Wall of Heroes created for the celebration, which features the pictures of veterans connected to the Sierra Lutheran High School community.
“The recognition and reverence of our veterans is one of the most important things Americans can do to honor the sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women,” Brian Underwood, Sierra Lutheran Director of School Development, said. “This tradition of saluting our veterans is one of the highlights of the school year, and we pray that our local veterans will take time to join us, and their brothers and sisters in service, to be saluted.”
For more information about the event, please e-mail Brian Underwood, bunderwood@slhs.com, or call 267-1921.
