UPDATE: It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel our Polecat Tavern grand opening party. Due to the construction on W Winnie Lane in Carson City, there's inadequate access to W Winnie lane and the West Winnie Shopping Center. The only way to access the shopping center is to drive over the rolled sidewalk on the East end of the shopping center which you can't get to except for going through the neighborhood.

We intend to operate our normal hours of 3 to closing so if anyone wants to traverse the detour route to come find us, we will be open and very happy to see you.

With high winds and high heat, power outages can happen at any time.

Shoppers are reporting outages at Topsy Lane and Costco. While these business centers aren’t listed on NV Energy’s outage map, they do show a residential outage nearby in Indian Hills.

Carson City is seeking input from residents on the quality and accessibility of its language services. Residents are invited to participate in a brief survey on the City’s website, carson.org/LAS, which is available in both English and Spanish. The survey will remain open until July 19.

The National Weather Service is asking residents in the Markleeville and Woodfords areas to seek shelter as hail and potential lighting is moving into the area as of 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The cell is moving northward and could continue into the Carson Valley.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has been utilizing inmate work crews to assist the community in projects, and clean up events. The inmate work crews have been utilized at two cemeteries (they’re going again Sunday), the Fair Grounds and a neighborhood in Stagecoach.

Inmates are not forced onto the work crews. There is not a shortage of inmates who volunteer to work on the inmate work crews, in spite of the weather conditions outside of the jail.

Clerk-Recorder and Public Administrator Scott Hoen went before the Carson City Charter Committee on June 12, 2024 to ask that the role of Public Administrator be separated from the Clerk-Recorder’s office. However, the charter committee has no jurisdiction over the office or how it is structured, and a separation could only occur if state law is changed according to Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury.

The Carson City Treasurer’s Office is announcing that the real property tax bills for Carson City, Nevada are now ready for the new tax year of 2024-2025, which runs from Monday, July 1, 2024, through Monday, June 30, 2025.

Douglas County Pop Warner parents are concerned about the board's silence after it was revealed a member of the board was recently arrested for soliciting prostitution.

In May 2024 it was revealed that Carson City Public Administrator Scott Hoen had been incommunicative with local funeral homes, leading to multiple individuals waiting for lengthy periods of time to be cremated.

However, an investigation into Hoen’s emails shows the situation is far more dire.
