A post is circulating social media that earlier today, the Carson City Sheriff's Office was searching for any information relating to an incident that was reported to have occurred between a middle-school aged pedestrian student and a vehicle near Carson Middle School around 7:20 a.m. Friday morning.

Concert moved to Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall

Because of cold and windy conditions expected tonight (Friday, Aug. 23), Cherie and John Shipley's "Take This Band" performance has been moved to the Performance Hall (the old church building) at the Brewery Arts Center, 511 W. King St. The concert will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

According to the Carson City Fire Department, early this morning crews were called to a mobile home fire in the area of Gold Leaf Lane with two residents trapped inside.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m.: Carson has backed off at the county line. Washoe County or NHP will take over.

UPDATE 6:01 p.m.: The driver is now on I580 heading northbound towards Reno going in excess of 100 mph.

As of 5:55 p.m. westbound lanes of Highway 50 heading up Spooner are closed right now due to a car chase.

Numerous units from Carson City, Douglas and NHP are responding.

I-580 southbound has also been stopped to keep cross traffic from being involved.

As South Lake Tahoe students head back to the classroom on Monday, August 26, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) will be enforcing current rules on cell phones during the school day.

Many school districts across the county, including nearby Carson City, have banned cell phone use during the school day for multiple reasons, most dealing with a lack of attention to learning, addiction, and bullying, and other mental health issues.

Schools in Carson City have been in session for three days now, but one student at Carson Middle School is still clinging to some high points from summer break.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, Carson City will host its third annual 5K Walk/Run to Remember benefit for the Northern Nevada Alzheimer's Association.

In addition to the race, there will be food trucks, live music, vendors and more.

The 2024 Oktoberfest Fundraiser takes place Oct. 11, 2024 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fuji Park Pavilion Hall.
