Did you know that The Greenhouse Project nonprofit in its 13 years has donated more than 22,500 pounds of produce for the food insecure through local agencies including Ron Wood, FISH, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army and Eagle Valley Children’s Home?

It has been just four days shy of one year since the first jump into Lake Tahoe to start removing trash around its 72-miles of shoreline. Now 81 dive days later, the non-profit Clean Up The Lake has finished its extraordinary initial goal of recovering thousands of pounds of trash from the lake.

Intermittent single lane closures will take place beginning Monday, May 16 on the Koontz Lane and Clearview Drive bridges over Interstate 580 in Carson City.

The Carson City Moose Lodge 2709 will offer a unique experience on May 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. For just $25, participants can ride the train in Mills Park which will make several stops in order to get off and sample 10 different wines or craft beers.

The Heart of Nevada Pageant at the Nevada State Fair is currently accepting contestants ahead of the June 4 pageant. Contestants can be any age, and include both boys and girls as well as women.

In addition to the traditional pageants, there will also be “Just for Fun” Mommy and Me and Best Friend contests.

A woman was arrested Tuesday for multiple alleged felony offenses including two counts battery with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, interfering with a victim reporting a crime and possession of stolen property, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

UPDATE 914AM: Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon reports a fence fire with minor extension into a sunroom. The fire is out and there were no injuries.

Congratulations to Carson High School World History, Human Geography, and Economics teacher Nicole Fagundes' Economics students who found a way to turn 8.5 percent inflation into a positive situation. Fagundes’ students researched the factors which determine inflation and the Consumer Price Index and predicted the March CPI of 8.5 percent.
