UPDATE 6:50 p.m.: First responders on scene stated that there is no flame or smoke, but there is "a lot of heat" coming from the ice cream freezer's electrical panel.

Work had been done recently to the electrical panel.

Other responders were released from the scene and there does not appear to by any immediate danger.

A structure fire was reported at the Quik Stop on North Roop Street at 6:40 p.m. Friday night.

A house fire in the 4800 block of W. Sutro Terrace was reported just after 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

The resident is evacuating. The fire began near the area of the chimney, according to dispatch.

For the week ending February 6, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 9,953, up 132 claims, or 1.3 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 9,821 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Motorists around the area of College Parkway and Airport Road are being re-directed Wednesday afternoon following a safety check of an abandoned box located in the area. According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, it is a safety check and there is not a public threat. The Douglas County Bomb Squad has responded to facilitate the check.

A 56-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of three counts possession of meth and three counts possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff's booking report states.

It’s being reported that a vehicle struck a pedestrian.
