Sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the week will help focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do.

On Wednesday, the driver of a crash that injured five individuals within Sportsman’s Warehouse was arrested for reckless driving with substantial bodily harm, driving without a license, and failure to maintain a travel lane. According to the suspect, this is the third vehicle he has crashed.
On Friday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. Ronald Wilkerson of Gardnerville exited the Carson City DMV following a dispute regarding the denial of his driver’s license.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 that there are 4 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. We are also reporting 27 new cases and 106 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 10,723, with 6,761 recoveries and 188 deaths; 3,774 cases remain active.

CARSON CITY — Due to expected overnight snow and cold weather, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety are anticipating dangerous road conditions in the Carson City, Washoe County and Douglas County areas on Wednesday morning.

It looks like winter driving conditions are finally here. We are expected to have blizzard like conditions in and around Carson City for the rest of the week. Carson City Sheriff’s Office encourages drivers to be responsible and exercise caution while driving.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday the appointment of Elisa Cafferata as the permanent director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. She had been in the role of acting director.

The Nevada State Public Health Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine has characterized the first known Nevada case of the new B.1.1.7 coronavirus strain. The new strain was detected in a sample that was initially tested in the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory.
