On May 04, 2021 the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), responded to the area of Topaz Ranch Road, Wellington, Nevada for a subject reporting they had shot a subject who entered their residence without permission.

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday morning for domestic battery first after allegedly attacking his mother and pushing her to the ground.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a residence just before 5 a.m. on Friday morning on report of a man trying to kick the front door down, who the caller stated was her son.

She also advised that she and her son had been in a physical altercation earlier in the night.

Two earthquakes shook the sierras Thursday night, originating out of Truckee, Calif.

According to the USGS, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake as well as a 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck just before and after 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Thursday evening to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of College Parkway and Nye Lane.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, May 6, 2021 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region. CCHHS is also reporting 24 new cases and 15 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Corrections announced Thursday that almost half of offenders have been vaccinated against COVID-19, surpassing the initial number of offenders requesting vaccination.

Cities and townships throughout Nevada have now been allowed to create their own COVID-19 transition plans, and Carson City has followed suit with the Restore Carson City transition plan.

According to the plan, Carson City is “prepared to fully re-open without occupancy restrictions for all businesses, public gatherings, events and activities that are not subject to differing requirements imposed by a separate governing authority.”

A proclamation was presented during the Thursday Board of Supervisors meeting to recognize the month of May as Bike Month in Carson City.

UPDATE: There has been an arrest in the early morning shooting in Gardnerville. Suspect Christian Gorman was treated and released into Douglas County Sheriff's Office custody after a homeowner confronted and shot him once after he had entered their residence without permission, according to a DCSO news release.

Gorham was detained by the homeowner until DCSO arrived. He was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center for his injuries, then treated and released to DCSO. Gorham was booked in the Minden Jail for burglary. DCSO says it does not believe the incident and the incident Tuesday in Topaz Ranch Estates are related.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened early Wednesday morning in Gardnerville.

The 3rd Street parking lot, home to the Carson City Farmers Market for more than a decade, will undergo a full renovation beginning in early July and will last through the fall.

Carson High School Career and Technical Education students received hands-on experience last month when they created and raced their own pinewood derby cars. The experience was more sophisticated than a typical Cub Scout contest because the architectural and civil engineering students had to first create the car design using the computer-aided design software, Autodesk.

Carson City Fire Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded Tuesday afternoon a two-vehicle crash with injuries at Highway 50 East and Arrowhead.

UPDATE: The fire was knocked down at around 1:15 p.m., according to a battalion chief on scene. Cleanup is underway.
