Gusty winds this morning swept through Carson City. While there wasn't any significant damage reported to Carson City dispatch, a large pine tree fell at the Nevada State Capitol complex as seen in these photos taken by Carson Now Reader LunaSea Zittel.

Here in Northern Nevada, we don’t have to worry about driving out snakes as Old St. Paddy supposedly did in Ireland in the fifth century. I mention Saint Patrick because March 17, Saint Patrick’s Day, is the traditional time to plant peas in our area.

The first of three storms this week arrived overnight bringing gusty winds to the Carson City area Sunday morning, but without reports of any serious damage. A large pine tree did tumble, however, on the Nevada State Capitol grounds Sunday.

Lime green is a bright and light green color resembling the skin of a citrus fruit, and it links closely with nature and represents high vitality, freshness, liveliness, and imagination. Carson High School's Nate Thornton, who obviously loves the color lime green, was moved to act when his friend, Chris Coulam was attacked by this merciless and wicked disease called cancer.

From far and wide, thousands came to Virginia City this weekend for the annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest.

For those not in the know, Rocky Mountain Oysters are a special delicacy founded by old west pioneers, made of battered and fried bull testicles.

An 18-year-old high school student was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly pushing his girlfriend into a wall “using great force.”

According to the arrest report, the student was arrested at the high school after the School Resource Officer was called in by the principal and dean.

Carson Valley Meats has petitioned the First Judicial District Court of the State of Nevada in Carson City for judicial review against the Carson City Board of Supervisors following its decision to uphold an appeal of the Planning Division’s approval of the Carson Valley Meats proposed facility.

The Planning Commission approved the facility during two separate votes, which would allow a meat packing and meat processing facility to be built in a General Industrial area off Highway 50 in Carson City.

UPDATE: U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) announced they've secured $93.8 million in Community Project Funding to support 52 Nevada programs and construction projects across the state as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 omnibus appropriations package.
