Silver City School House to host 'Pi Day' Pie Auction to benefit community programming Monday
The Silver City Schoolhouse, located at 385 High Street in Silver City, will be hosting a Pi Day Pie Auction to benefit the Schoolhouse and community programs.
The auction will begin at 5 p.m. on March 14, also known as Pi Day.
The Silver City Schoolhouse is managed by the Silver City Preservation Society, a non-profit created by the residents of Silver City.
The Silver City Schoolhouse hosts numerous events throughout the year, including artists-in-residency events, game nights, music concerts, holiday parties, and much more.
It is also home to the Silver City Volunteer Library, a residents-run community library that allows Silver City residents to take books home within the town.
The original Silver City Schoolhouse burned down in 2004 after a fire possibly caused by county employees who were utilizing welding torches while installing air conditioning. It was rebuilt - with much of its original archaeological findings saved - in 2008.
Next month, the schoolhouse will host its inaugural poetry festival in honor of National Poetry Month.
