Missing Redding man remains identified; murder investigation involves Carson City, Lyon County law enforcement
UPDATE: KOLO reports the case links back to Mono County, where the victim, Jered Stefansky, was supposed to meet with a couple found dead Nov. 9, 2021, along U.S. 395 by a Caltrans snowplow driver north of Bridgeport.
KOLO cites the Associated Press where authorities arrested three from Missoula, Mont., on suspicion of murder in the deaths of William Adrian Larsen of Burbank, Calif., 35, and his wife, Yesenia Larsen, 30, who were discovered Nov. 9, 2021, along U.S. 395 by a Caltrans snowplow driver north of Bridgeport.
Authorities arrested three from Missoula, Mont., on suspicion of murder in the deaths of the Larsens: Cory Spurlock, Orit Oged, and Bradley Kohorst.
The Mono County District Attorney’s Office had no one available to comment on the status of the case, according to KOLO.
On June 21 2020, a 26-year-old Redding, Calif. resident, Jered Stefansky, was reported missing to the Redding Police Department. Jered was last seen on June 19, 2020 as he left Redding and traveled to the Carson City and the Mound House area in Nevada.
Jered was to meet associates on Martin Drive in Mound House and return to Redding on June 19. Jered never returned to his home in Redding. The Redding Police Department forwarded the missing persons report to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigated Jered’s disappearance jointly.
On March 16, 2021, human remains were located in a shallow grave at a remote area near Rye Patch Reservoir in Pershing County, Nevada. The human remains were sent to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office in Reno for examination.
On Dec. 14 2021, The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Carson City Sheriff’s Office that the human remains found at Rye Patch Reservoir were identified as being Jered Stefansky through DNA testing. Jered Stefanksy’s family was notified of Jered’s remains being located.
