Heavy rain with elevated snow levels are expected to renew the risk of flooding Tuesday morning through Wednesday, mostly in areas below 7,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service in Reno, which has issued a Flood Watch from late Monday night through Thursday evening.

Struggling to breathe, Louie, a large breed golden retriever-mix, was ambushed by and bitten in the face by a dangerous dog with such force that it broke part of his lower jaw and left his nose hanging by only skin and one eye partially bulging out of its socket. The attack left Louie, who lives with his owner in a small North Carolina town, permanently disfigured and traumatized.

CARSON CITY — January's 2023 employment report shows the total number of jobs in Nevada has passed 1.5 million over the past year. After annual revisions, the state’s employment at the end of 2022 was higher than initially reported by around 50,000 jobs, according to the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation latest report.

With additional jobs added in January, the total number of jobs in Nevada is now over 1.53 million, up 6 percent over the year.

MINDEN — A precautionary evacuation warning has been issued for the Buckeye, Dangberg Reservoir area due to a possible reservoir overflow which could affect homes and property in the area. The affected area includes less than 50 homes; however, the overflow could impact other property infrastructure in the area.

Another atmospheric river storm system this week is aimed at Carson City and surrounding counties, further bringing the chances for low elevation rain and high elevation snow to an already water-logged region, according to the National Weather Service.

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual “Salute To Young Musicians” concert on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center.

The concert will feature Jake Xie performing Fantasia for Alto Saxophone, the Carson High School Winter Drum Line, the Carson High School Clarinet Choir, Brass Quintet and Bassoonist Alex Garcia Perez. The recipient of the Capital City Community Band Richard Doede Music Scholarship will also be announced at the concert.

​The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents voted to appoint Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe as President of Western Nevada College at the board’s regular quarterly meeting today, March 10 in Las Vegas.

With localized flooding and excessive snow buildup in many parts of the county—and another atmospheric river event on the way Monday, March 13—the time to prepare for the next round of storms is now.

On Friday, March 10, The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners declared a local state of emergency, followed by a declaration of emergency from Governor Joe Lombardo. The County is advising the public to assess their individual situations and gather the necessary flood preparedness and emergency supplies when safe to do so.

Just before 2:15 p.m. a crash was reported on I-580 southbound in Carson City, just before the College Parkway exit.

Injuries are currently unknown.

Motorists should seek alternate routes or use caution while in the area.

As the Pineapple Express continues to flow over our region, more and more rain will continue to pour down.
