South Lake Tahoe residents rescued after partial roof collapse
On Friday night, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue evacuated residents from an apartment complex following a partial roof collapse.
Numerous roof and canopy structure collapses have been reported around the Tahoe region following record, heavy snow fall.
SLTFR responded to a multi-unit housing structure on San Fransisco after it experienced a partial collapse on one side of an exterior walkway, which was the main entrance and exit for residents. Because residents were trapped by the collapse, SLTFR quickly rescued residents via ladder via back balconies. There were 5 rescues via ladder out the opposite side, and no injuries were reported.
All those displaced are being provided or already have housing options, according to SLTFR.
Portions of the roof collapsed further while responders were on scene.
