Two Carson City women jailed on separate sex offense-related charges

Two Carson City women were arrested Monday in separate cases involving warrants alleging felony statutory sexual seduction in one instance, and gross misdemeanor indecent exposure in another.

Tracy Lynn Cervantes, 24, was arrested in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive at 1:31 p.m. A warrant had been issued for her arrest on June 5. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $21,000.

Nevadans Wait for Sandoval to Take Action

CARSON CITY — Just over one week after the end of the 77th legislative session, Nevadans are still waiting for Gov. Brian Sandoval to take action on the controversial universal background check bill.

It is believed that the Governor will veto Senate Bill 221; however, it’s been nearly a week since the measure was enrolled and delivered to his office, and Sandoval has yet to announce his final decision.

Wildfire behind Carson City rifle range 'under control' firefighters report

UPDATE 12:30PM: The fire burning near the long rifle range off of Flint Drive in Carson City is under control at this time, according to firefighters at the scene. The mop-up phase has begun and firefighters expect to be at the scene for at least 45 minutes to an hour, according to dispatch.

Carson City Fire Department personnel are responding to a wildfire this afternoon near the rifle range at 400 Flint Drive. Smoke is visible and flames are reportedly being fanned by gusty winds.

Traffic lights working along Carson Street after power outage

UPDATE: A power outage affecting traffic lights from Long to 5th Street in Carson City this afternoon appears to be resolved. A downed power line from a gust of wind reportedly knocked out the power at around 12:40 p.m.

Traffic lights were up and functional at 12:55 p.m. along Washington and Robinson streets and other streets began to follow, according to Carson City dispatch.

Lodi woman identified in Lake Tahoe fatal crash; three Carson City residents injured

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Lodi, Calif., woman as the victim of a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened Sunday on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe.

Reyna Vizcaara, 24, died at the scene of the crash, reported at 2:55 p.m., said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. Four others were injured and taken to area hospitals, including three Carson City residents. Two remain hospitalized.
