Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo and Assistant District Attorney Mark J. Krueger of the Criminal Division, warn of a potentially misleading solicitation for land deed processing from Property Transfer Services.

The District Attorney’s Office received information from local attorneys that Property Transfer Services has been sending solicitations to new property owners in and around Carson City recommending “all Nevada homeowners obtain a copy of their current Grant deed as evidence that the title to the property was in fact transferred to the new owner.”

A power outage affected 1,025 NV Energy customers early Sunday morning in the East Carson City and Mound House areas.

NV Energy Spokeswoman Stefanie McCaffrey said there were three separate outages early Sunday morning caused by an underground fault indicator that failed.

This week's It's Your City is with Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong who discusses, among other things, 2013 crime statistics. Uniform Crime Reporting preliminary data for 2013 shows the crime rate for Carson City has dropped to its lowest level since 1994.

Two Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were treated and released for minor injuries after a vehicle chase Sunday night that began in Carson City and wound up with a patrol car being rammed in South Lake Tahoe.

Samantha Rose Randazzo, 32, of South Lake Tahoe was arrested on suspicion of felony enhancement, evading, and assault with a deadly weapon. She also faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Randazzo is being held in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. Her bail is $112,500.

A snow dance performed by a group of traditional Native American dancers produced immediate results at Lake Tahoe on Saturday.

More than 10 girls in the Eagle Wings troupe, wearing colorful jewelry and dressed in the traditional dress of Great Basin tribes, stomped in unison to beating drums as they danced at the entrance of Sugar Pine Point State Park.

West Fifth Street will be closed Monday, January 13, through Friday, January 17, between Nevada Street and Division Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Detours will be signed.
