A mother and daughter are set to go to trial in April on charges they illegally tampered with a bear trap at Lake Tahoe.

Cheryl Ann Morrison, 63, of Truckee and her daughter, 35-year-old Season Marie Morrison of Reno, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Incline Village Justice Court to misdemeanor charges of obstructing or interfering with an officer of the Nevada Department of Wildlife and tampering with a vehicle. Trial was set for April 9.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. Inspections through Jan. 14, 2014 include restaurants, fast food restaurants, bars and lounges.

The victim of Sunday morning's shooting at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has died, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The victim, Francis Dresser, 86, and her husband, lived of Douglas County. Carson City sheriff’s detectives have amended the arrest charges for William Dresser, Francis’ husband, to murder. Dresser remains in custody on suicide watch at the Carson City Jail on $225,000 bond.

A Gardnerville woman was booked into Carson City Jail on Tuesday with felony warrants for her arrest on suspicion of grand larceny. Sunshine Dawn Workman, 38, was booked into jail at 4:10 p.m. with a bail amount of $17,500.

The Category C felony grand larceny warrant was issued out of Carson City Justice Court on Sept. 5, 2013. A second warrant for a theft charge out of Douglas County's East Fork Township Justice Court was issued Dec. 6, 2013.

Sue Merriwether has announced her candidacy for County Clerk-Recorder for Carson City. Merriwether, the Chief Deputy, has worked for the Clerk-Recorder’s Office since 1997 and hopes to fill the spot being vacated by retiring Alan Glover.

A report by state Controller Kim Wallin shows Nevada's general fund revenues rose 4 percent in the last fiscal year. Money that goes to the state general fund totaled $6.5 billion, up from $6.2 billion in 2012.

Carson City Symphony Chorus, conducted by Michael Langham, is beginning rehearsals on Tuesday, January 28, for two concerts with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.

Rehearsals are on Tuesdays, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 1750 N. Mountain Street in Carson City. Singers who are interested in joining should contact Director Michael Langham at sfml@aol.com or the Symphony at 775-883-4154.

An avid equestrian with nearly 20 years experience, Samantha Szesciorka, her horse and dog set out from Baker, near the Utah border, to experience Nevada unplugged.

More than 450 miles and one month later, she arrived in Reno with a new appreciation for pioneering travelers who shaped the state more than 150 years ago. Her stories, images and insights are the focus of “The Nevada Discovery Ride: Pioneering in the Modern Age” lecture at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23.
