Carson City Charter Review Committee seeks input

The Charter Review Committee is seeking public input for possible amendments to the Carson City Charter. The governing ordinance requires that proposed amendments to the Charter be heard and debated by the Committee, who then advises the Board of Supervisors with regard to recommendations of the Committee that concern necessary amendments to the Charter.

Suspect in police chase that injured two Carson City deputies to be arraigned March 4

A 32-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail after being extradited from California where she faces felony and gross misdemeanor charges of eluding police and endangerment related to a Jan. 12 police chase that began in Carson City, ended in South Lake Tahoe and injured two Carson City sheriff's office deputies.

Samantha Rose Randazzo is being held on $20,000 bail. Her court arraignment is March 4, 9 a.m. in Carson City. Randazzo allegedly rammed a patrol vehicle and then refused to get out of the SUV she was driving.

Carson City gaming revenue in January down 1 percent, statewide nearly 2.8 percent

Carson City area casinos report a 1 percent decrease in gaming revenue for the first month of 2014, with overall statewide figures declining nearly 3 percent compared to January 2013 figures, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reports Friday.

Casinos in Carson City and Carson Valley, including Minden, Gardnerville and the Topaz area, took in gaming revenue of $7,268,038 for the month compared to January 2013 which brought $7,342,100.

Little River Band to headline Carson City Concert Under the Stars benefit for Greenhouse Project

Forest Order proposed for proper food and refuse storage in Lake Tahoe Basin

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is seeking input on a proposal to prepare an Environmental Assessment and issue a Forest Order to require proper food and refuse storage at developed recreation sites on National Forest System lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Weather system to bring more snow to Sierra, may drop some to valley floor

Another winter storm is moving into the Sierra late tonight with heavy snow expected in the Sierra through Friday, especially south of Highway 50, according to the National Weather Service.

Low pressure will move into the Sierra late Thursday night and Friday bringing a period of rain and snow to western Nevada. The heaviest precipitation will occur in Douglas and southern Lyon counties Friday morning with rain and snow decreasing by the late afternoon.

Carson City motorist stopped, arrested on misdemeanor Reno warrant

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:38 p.m. in the 1400 block of East William Street on suspicion of failure to pay fines.

According to the arrest report, Carson City sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop for an improper turn. Carson City dispatch advised the man had a confirmed warrant issued Jan. 18, 2011 out of Reno Justice Court for failure to pay fines. Bail: $795.

Annual Nevada jobless revisions shows Carson City improving

Annual adjustments to Nevada’s labor market data show that job growth statewide was stronger than initially estimated. Specifically, job estimates increased statewide by 9,200 from preliminary readings, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced Thursday.

Carson City’s benchmark revealed the area’s economy lost fewer jobs than initially estimated in 2013. Carson City employment still fell by an annual average of 200 jobs over-the-year, a decrease of 0.6 percent from average 2012 levels, however the benchmark put back 100 more jobs than was initially reported in 2013.
