Here is the Carson City road report for the week of March 3-9, 2014: On Tuesday, March 4, there will be flagger-controlled traffic on Sherman Lane between Airport Road and College Parkway.

The following roads will be closed from Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. due to utility work. Only local resident access will be allowed:

The Western Nevada College baseball team came out on top in the Scenic West Athletic Conference’s round-robin competition over the last weekend.

Now WNC, which improved to 11-5 overall, will play Salt Lake, the only team to beat the Wildcats in Henderson, on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, at John L. Harvey Field. The conference-opening doubleheaders begin at noon both days, weather permitting.

Pets, many people have them and often times they are treated as family. They offer companionship, protection, and unconditional love. In many families, pets are treated like children.

So much so, that they can be seen riding inside of vehicles as the owner cruises down the roadway. One can see canines hanging their heads out the window catching the wind or draped over the arms of the driver. Felines are observed lounging on the rear deck or dashboard and I am sure there are other types of pets that ride along in vehicles that are unseen.

Lead foot drivers beware: For the next 10 days, more than two dozen Nevada law enforcement agencies will join forces to crack down on motorists exceeding speed limits or driving too fast for road conditions.

"We encourage everyone to leave early and follow the speed limit signs throughout the whole year," said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Lopez. "When we do these Join Forces, our goal is to encourage drivers to be safe all the time."
