John Wagner, a retired engineering instructor with Sony and 15-year-resident of Carson City filed Monday for the position of Assemblyman from District 40 held by Pete Livermore who decided not to run. Wagner filed as a member of the American Independent Party.

“After the two major parties, having caused major damage to the people of Nevada with massive tax increases and regulations, it is time for a change. The citizens of Nevada deserve better,” stated Wagner.

Sue Merriwether, Chief Deputy Clerk Recorder for Carson City, officially filed to run for the spot currently held by Alan Glover, who’s retiring after this term. Merriwether has 17 years of experience in the Clerk-Recorder’s office and has lived in the community for almost four decades.

“I’ve seen what Alan does on a daily basis, and I know how this office works. I’m ready to take this next step in making sure the Clerk-Recorder’s office continues to run smoothly.”

Two Carson City women face gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to obtain money through false pretense after allegedly using a Walmart receipt exchanging it out for cash.

The women, ages 45 and 50, were arrested Saturday at 12:23 p.m. According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street after store security had the pair detained.

A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly stealing his father's truck.
Josh Baroni is being held on $25,000 bail. According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 600 block of of Kay Court in reference to a stolen vehicle.

A Care Flight helicopter was called early Sunday night to transport a man involved in an ATV rollover in the Ash Canyon area west of Carson City.

Rescue crews and a ranger used ATVs to get to the victim, initially reported to be two-thirds of the way up into the foothill canyon area that is known for its rocky, rough trail terrain.
