A 67-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of indecent conduct after he allegedly urinated near children at Mills Park.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to the park at around 4 p.m. and detained the man near the skate park.

Officers spoke with a witness who said the man was observed urinating on some bushes near the south end of the park. The witness was with his 1-year-old-son and said that there were other children in the area where the man was seen urinating.

A 50-year-old Zephyr Cove woman faces a charge of open murder after allegedly shooting and killing her husband.
Tatiana Leibel, was taken into custody by Douglas County Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning, said Sgt. Pat Brooks.

On Sunday, Feb 23, 2014 at 11 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to 452 Kent Way, Zephyr Cove for a report of a male who had shot himself.

A wet weather pattern will bring snow to the Sierra and rain to the western valleys and Carson City beginning Wednesday and persist into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The first of two storms will arrive late Wednesday afternoon and persist into Thursday morning. Snow amounts of 10 to 18 inches near the crest, 3 to 8 inches at Lake Tahoe level, and 2 to 4 inches along Highway 395 in Mono County will result in slick and hazardous road conditions. For lower valley floors, rain is expected and impacts will be minimal, according to the weather service.

Carson City Library and the premier online research and reference tool, ReferenceUSA, will host “Find a Job by Using RefUSA at Your Library” a free job seminar, on Tuesday, March 4, at 1 pm at the @ Two Digital Learning Center on the second floor of the library.

This demonstration will provide helpful tips and resources such as interview tips, how to write a resume, and job searching tips. Other tools include salary estimates, job articles and continuing education.

U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews are conducting a number of prescribed fire operations Monday in several areas around Lake Tahoe. Carson City dispatch was alerted by concerned residents this afternoon about smoke seen south and west of C Hill. Firefighters confirmed it came from the controlled burns.

Prescribed fire activities are taking place on Spooner Summit on the East Shore, off of Bunker Drive near Tahoe City, on the west side of Highway 89 N near Tahoma, and in the Luther Pass Campground off of Highway 89 S near South Lake Tahoe.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. Inspections through Feb. 20, 2014 include school cafeterias, Meals on Wheels, Carson City Senior Citizens Center, restaurants, fast food restaurants, retail grocers, bars, lounges and convenience stores.
