'One Kind Cookie' campaign aims to inspire acts of kindness with Girl Scout Cookies
Think Kindness and Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada are teaming up to take on bullying by inspiring more than 500 acts of kindness in the month of March, and they’re asking the community to join the cause. It’s simple:
1. Buy a box (or two or three) of Girl Scout Cookies
2. Download your One Kind Cookie Note at thinkkindness.org
3. Personalize your One Kind Cookie Note, and tape it to your box of cookies
4. Give it to someone you “catch” in the act of Kindness; Or recognize someone who makes an effort to be Kind always (but remember to deliver it anonymously!)
“This is an incredible opportunity for parents to teach their kids the life skill of being kind to others,” said Brian Williams, founder of Think Kindness. “Just buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies, keep it in your car, and when you spot an act of Kindness – your child gets to recognize that person.”
The goal of the One Kind Cookie campaign is to inspire 500 acts of Kindness. Girl Scouts are all about inspiring the future leaders of our world, and recognizing a shared kindness will instill leadership at a young age.
“We are so proud to build the excitement of Girl Scout Cookie Season by challenging the community to use their cookies to be kind to one another,” said Julia Ratti, CEO of Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada. “The One Kind Cookie campaign demonstrates everything our girls stand for.”
Why Kindness? Because statistics show bullying is on the rise among young adults, teens and children:
· Every day, 160,000 students miss school out of fear of being bullied
· 6 out of 10 teens witness bullying at least once a day
· 38% of girls worry about their emotional safety when spending time with peers
· 85% of the time, when a girl is bullied, no one intervenes*
If thousands of people give just one act of kindness, it will result in a wave of good that will make a difference in the world. The Girl Scouts are ready to lead that positive change. They plan to disrupt the pattern of bullying by inspiring kindness.
Why Girl Scout Cookies? Buying Girl Scout Cookies is about more than just handing over money for a box. It's about the skills a girl gains from interacting directly with you. It's about the experience of running her own cookie business and working with others. It’s about the community service projects, earned science badges, and travel opportunities she funds with the support of her community. And now, it’s about inspiring acts of kindness.
Inspire kindness with Girl Scout Cookies today. It just might change the world.
