EAA Young Eagles 'Orientation and Principles of Flight' happening Saturday at Carson City Airport

Interested in learning about flying? This event Saturday at Carson City Airport is for kids ages 8-17 years old that are interested in learning more about flying. Pilots will be discussing the Principles of Flight and general information about aircraft and flying. We will also be discussing our Young Eagles Program and how kids can get a free flights in an aircraft.

Due to weather, Greenhouse Garden Center changes date to March 18 for pruning clinic

Carson City Humane Society's Pet of the Week: Jolene, in honor of National Adopt a Guinea Pig Month

Happy Wednesday Carson City. Today’s Pet of the Week is none other than Jolene. What better way than to celebrate National Adopt a Guinea Pig month than with this sweet, 2-month-old critter.

Jolene is shy and nervous at first but is curious once she gets to know you. She enjoys pellets, timothy hay, carrots, celery and lettuce.

Northern Nevada Legal Aid to host the 'Voices For Justice' luncheon April 21

RENO — Northern Nevada Legal Aid, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving qualified residents across Northern Nevada, will host its 13th annual “Voices For Justice” luncheon on Friday, April 21, at The Renaissance Hotel at One Lake St. in Reno.The event typically draws some 300 attorneys, judges, community leaders and volunteers who gather in support of the legal aid organization.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Dayton Senior Center, and the senior services Lyon County provides through the center.

Cornhole fundraiser March 18 to benefit Carson City Parks and Rec youth scholarships

Carson City Parks and Recreation, together with Sierra Nevada Cornhole, is having its 1st annual FUNdraiser Cornhole Tournament for Youth Scholarships in the CCPR’s many programs here in Carson City! Tourney is at the MAC Building on March 18.

The Carson Cluckers 4-H Poultry Club has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 8, at 6 p.m. at the Carson/Storey Extension Conference Rm, 2621 Northgate Lane in Carson City, Suite 12.

The 4-H club is open to any youth 5-19 years of age who want to learn how to raise and show poultry.

Silver City's Donovan Mill window restoration continues thanks to donors and volunteers

A few years ago, volunteers installed chicken wire over all the windows at the historic Donovan Mill in Silver City. Fast forward to July 2022 when the Daughters of the American Revolution granted $10,000 for Donovan Mill window restoration and replacement. The Comstock Foundation for History and Culture matched this funding with $10,000.

Carson High School Debate Wraps up Regular Season with 11 Debaters in Final Rounds

Carson High School (CHS) Speech and Debate wrapped up its regular season over the weekend at Spanish Springs High School where the team completed its best season in decades. The final regular season tournament saw 14 schools and 203 competitors, with 11 CHS debaters advancing into final rounds over the two-day event.
