Silver City's Donovan Mill window restoration continues thanks to donors and volunteers
In 8 months, Donovan Mill volunteers purchased redwood lumber at Lowes in Carson City. Roberts Enterprises at Mound House milled wood, volunteers constructed and painted the frames, Louie’s Ace Hardware cut and installed glass and today you’ll find volunteers restoring the existing openings and installing frames that include 65 windows and approximately 600 panes of glass.
This is the latest in a number of restoration projects at the historic mill. Go here for a 2021 Carson Now story that outlines the multi-year project.
We salute the GOAT volunteers, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Preservation Committee, the Sierra Nevada Daughters of the American Resolution, the CFHC and the donors!
The window project protects the conservation progress in many projects at Donovan Mill, and enables us to plan for future preservation efforts.
Stay tuned for updates. Stop by Donovan Mill for a tour.
Those who are interested in helping the Donovan Mill Restoration Project reach completion can either donate, become members of the Comstock Foundation, or even volunteer on site to help bring the Mill back to its former glory.
