Build2Win organizer to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon
The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Bepsy Strasburg of Build2Win, a non-partisan community group that organizes workshops at convenient times to raise awareness of public policies, practices, and projects that affect the lives of Carson City residents.
In August Build2Win sponsored an Ormsby Room discussion with Gregg Berggren, Carson City Trails Coordinator, to address environmental, cultural and residential considerations involved with plans for Carson River Trail III in the Prison Hill area.
In September Build2Win sponsored a Digitorium fact exploration session on property taxes with Carson City Assessor Kimberly Adams and Treasurer Andrew Rasor. Questions posed revolved around how property taxes are calculated for commercial and residential parcels, what legislative bills related to property taxes were heard in the 2023 session, and what happens when annual tax increases surpass the ability to pay.
At their October 21st workshop, Build2Win will host a presentation by Daniel Honchariw from the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI) on Ballot Question 3, which will be on the ballot for the second time in 2024. If passed, this measure will create open primaries and implement a system of ranked choice voting. NPRI is a member of the State Policy Network, a nationwide chain of think tanks that promote conservative values and causes.
This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, October 16th, and can be attended either in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom. Bepsy's presentation will begin after all the lunch orders have been taken, around 1:30. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon Zoom links should contact Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com.
