An Evening with George Whittell, Jr. Sept. 16 at Gold Hill Hotel Chautauqua
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 09/11/2014 - 1:35pmOn Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m., Mr. Whittell will pay a visit to the Gold Hill Hotel from his summer retreat at the Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Tahoe. He will undoubtedly have some stories that include Bill the Lion, his elephant Mingo, surviving World Wars I and II, and his six custom Duesenberg luxury cars.
Whittell is played by Steve Hale in first person and costume. In the Chautauqua you may be the first to hear about his big plans for his 30,000 acre estate and 27 miles of shoreline on the Lake!

Mile High Jazz Band features 'Light of Day' theme for Tuesday night music, poetry session

The event will be on Tuesday, September 9, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. The event will be outdoors in the adjacent courtyard, weather permitting. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.
Filmmakers wanted for first Carson Creepy Film Festival

Films can lean to comedy or horror.
It's Wine Walk Saturday in Carson City

Today's wine walk is going to be the best yet with Rice Street on the north end of downtown offering a shop local street faire. Vendors, Crafters, and artisans will be set up in the streets.
The Brewery Arts Center will be having street performers throughout the wine walk, and many of the shops will be having end of summer clearances. Make sure to get your tickets and bring a friend.

Nevada Artists Association 'Photography Show' at BAC through October, reception Saturday

A reception will be held for the photographers, painters and artists Saturday Sept. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to view the exhibit, meet the artists and partake of libations and refreshments. Reno Philharmonic seeks video submissions for 'Home Means Nevada' concert set

The Reno Philharmonic is now seeking video submissions of “Home Means Nevada” performances from schools and music groups across the state to include as part of a video montage of submitted performances during the concert.

Chamber Singers, Carson City Symphony Chorus begin season rehearsals

They perform several concerts each year and have sung throughout the area. They sing regularly with the Carson City Symphony and have performed in several concerts with the Reno Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra.

Organizers say Dayton Valley Library authors event was success

There were approximately 50 attendees and the library parking lot was full. Residents of Dayton were invited to interact with five local Nevada writers, discuss their writing, purchase books and have them signed by the authors.
