Tony Argento performs Cowboy Poetry at Nevada State Museum Thursday

August 28, 2014 - 6:30pm “Tuned up and twisted” is how Tony Argento describes his Western style poetry coming to the Nevada State Museum from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28. Argento presents “Cowboy Poetry: "The Pride 'N' Spirit O' Nevada" as part of the museum’s Frances Humphrey Lecture Series held at the museum on the fourth Thursday of every month, shedding new light on the state’s stories.
Argento is a member of the Fremont Howitzer Recovery Team involved the museum’s latest exhibit, “Finding Fremont: Pathfinder of the West.” He said he does voice animation and vocal sound effects, and makes good use of props.
“Cowboy poetry has been around since the years following the Civil War,” he said. “Its unique form continues to show the cowboy and the American West are alive with stories of elevated humor, patriotism, serious and solemn verse. It’s a great source of entertainment for the entire family.”
