Filmmakers wanted for first Carson Creepy Film Festival
With the general theme “Creepy” the Brewery Arts Center is looking for films from a number of sub genres to choose from including Halloween, Ghost, monster, psychological thriller, sci-fi, spiders and insects, vampire, witches and zombies. Films can lean to comedy or horror.
All films will need to follow public access rules as follows: — Must not contain any nudity or foul language. — Some films will be shown on public access television, those selected for television broadcast must not contain any gratuitous violence, nudity or foul language.
The BAC advises filmmakers to should try keep it as family, age appropriate oriented as they can within horror/creepy. Fans of classic thrillers know it’s not what is always shown, but what is implied that can produce the greatest frights.
Here’s how the competition works: 1. Get a team together and registered by 5 pm on Monday, Oct 13. 2. On Wednesday Oct. 15, at 3 p.m BAC will give you your assignment. 3. Start filming! Write, film, edit. 4. You have from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 3 p.m. Wednesday of the next week to get your film completed, burned to DVD and submitted. (grace period to 5 p.m. IF NEEDED). 5. BAC will preview the films and determine age appropriate up to 13, these will show before intermission. 6. Come to the showing in the Performance Hall, Saturday Oct. 25 at 6 p.m., at intermission we will conduct the costume contest and perhaps the awards for younger competitors. After intermission the creepier films will be shown, parents may wish to take younger audience members home.
Teams should consider that the winners will be determined by the following judging criteria: Acting, Plot or Story, Technical/Effects, Use of Ingredients and Best Picture Overall.
Think you got what it takes to do a short film with all the intensity of the “Blair Witch Project?” Interested? Go here for all the details.
