Strings in the Summer 2015: A program for string players of all ages

The Carson City Symphony's free Strings in the Summer, a six-week program for string players of all ages, begins Monday, June 8, at Carson Mall under the direction of Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch. Three classes are offered each week. Classes meet from 10 to 11 a.m. and each class features at least one new tune.

A tale as old as time comes to the Bob Boldrick Theater as Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Showtimes are at 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays for two weekends, June 5 – June 14. Tahoe WordWave 2015 lineup announced

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe Oct. 9-11, 2015 for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site. This literary mash-up will feature oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids. Highlights include a one-act playwriting contest, a Maker’s Station demo with bookbinding, letterpress, drum making, and found poetry and art. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, and even a hike.

Kids Pottery Classes, Ages 8 and older are being offered by Carson City Pottery. Parents and grandparents have been asking about kids classes ever since Carson City Pottery moved to 248 E Winnie Lane. They have heard your requests and are offering a clay class for kids ages 8 and up on Mondays from 4pm - 6pm, starting Monday, June 8 through Monday June 22, taught by South Lake Tahoe Artist Sarah Reesor.

Mile High Jazz Band presents 'Now Cut That Out' - An Evening of Big-Band Jazz and Poetry

Carson City Library Presents: How the West Was Rung

On Saturday, June 6, the Carson City Library will present “Tintabulations,” a community handbell ensemble from Reno in the library Digitorium, beginning at noon.

The concert, entitled “How The West Was Rung,” is an homage to the ensemble's Summer 2015 tour of their home state of Nevada in celebration of its Sesquicentennial, as well as a reference to their musicianship quickly becoming known in the handbell world as "west coast style."

Chautauqua performer Steve Hale will present “George Whittell, Jr." at the Dangberg Historic Ranch Home, Wednesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. This is a free outdoor event. USAF Commanders brings music ensemble to Carson City at free June 28 concert

With the memory of the performance by USAF Concert Band from Washington, D.C. not yet faded, we are pleased to announce the USAF Band of the Golden West Commanders will be appearing on stage at the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Community Center, 851 E. William Street, in Carson City Sunday afternoon, June 28 at 3 p.m.
