The Carson City Symphony's free Strings in the Summer, a six-week program for string players of all ages, begins Monday, June 8, at Carson Mall under the direction of Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch. Three classes are offered each week. Classes meet from 10 to 11 a.m. and each class features at least one new tune.

Try out your acting skills at 7pm at the new Brewery Arts Centers’ outdoor Minnesota St Stage as Heidi and Mike host IMPROV AT THE BAC. Admission is only $5. Join in the fun and the games! High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party June 27 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. Tim Renner will teach a lesson in intermediate West Coast swing at 6:30 p.m.. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m.

A tale as old as time comes to the Bob Boldrick Theater as Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Battle Born 1864 ‘Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly’ and the Twelve Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge take place in scenic downtown Carson City on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 and run in conjunction with the Karson Krusers’ Run Whatcha’ Brung Show and Shine Car Show at Fuji Park.

Enter to win the Mustache competition, the 'Fast Draw' contest, the pin-up girl contest, or the tattoo competition. Meet the Naughty Tea Mistresses, the Carson Victory Rollers Roller Derby Team, and the Nevada Pony Express Riders.

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe Oct. 9-11, 2015 for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site. This literary mash-up will feature oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids. Highlights include a one-act playwriting contest, a Maker’s Station demo with bookbinding, letterpress, drum making, and found poetry and art. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, and even a hike.

Kids Pottery Classes, Ages 8 and older are being offered by Carson City Pottery. Parents and grandparents have been asking about kids classes ever since Carson City Pottery moved to 248 E Winnie Lane. They have heard your requests and are offering a clay class for kids ages 8 and up on Mondays from 4pm - 6pm, starting Monday, June 8 through Monday June 22, taught by South Lake Tahoe Artist Sarah Reesor.

The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalists Cindee LeVal and June Joplin will be joined by seven poets and readers for "Now Cut That Out," a lively evening of big-band jazz music and poetry.

The event will be on Tuesday, June 9, 7:00-9:30 p.m., at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.

He's back! Carson City's adopted son, Rick J. Radecki, blasts onto the main stage of Living the Good Life Bistro-Lounge Wednesday, June 3 with his brand-new live-singing package of "Radecki Un-Plugged!" Come see and hear why this energetic and soulful performer is making a name for himself as an up-and-comer on the northern Nevada entertainment scene.

On Saturday, June 6, the Carson City Library will present “Tintabulations,” a community handbell ensemble from Reno in the library Digitorium, beginning at noon.

The concert, entitled “How The West Was Rung,” is an homage to the ensemble's Summer 2015 tour of their home state of Nevada in celebration of its Sesquicentennial, as well as a reference to their musicianship quickly becoming known in the handbell world as "west coast style."

Chautauqua performer Steve Hale will present “George Whittell, Jr." at the Dangberg Historic Ranch Home, Wednesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. This is a free outdoor event. The park is located at 1450 Hwy 88, ¼ mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or use one of the park’s chairs. Dogs are not permitted in the park, with the exception of certified service animals.

One of North Shore’s most popular summer events is the Bluesdays concert series. It takes place every Tuesday evening, June 16 – September 8, from 6 p.m-8:30 p.m. in the Village Events Plaza in Olympic Valley, California.

Blues musicians from around the country take center stage and perform free concerts for guests and, in addition to the live shows, there are also a variety of food and drink specials available.

With the memory of the performance by USAF Concert Band from Washington, D.C. not yet faded, we are pleased to announce the USAF Band of the Golden West Commanders will be appearing on stage at the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Community Center, 851 E. Vintage Rose is a live band tribute honoring the vision, passion and power of the women of classic rock. Hear more than 20 top hits by five of the most talented and electric female singers of all time including Janis Joplin, Blondie, Ann Wilson of Heart, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar. The show is Saturday, June 27, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Not just your standard cover show, Vintage Rose combines stunning costumes with the acting and singing prowess of Natalie Jones and a live rock band for a show that will inspire and entertain.

When you realize your love life is being orchestrated by a terrible screenwriter, how do you stop the ride and get off? How does a hapless bystander respond when called upon by a deranged actress to give the brush off to her recent ex?

FANCIFOOL is a brilliantly constructed piece of entertaining 21st century multi-media theatre complete with dramatic and comic dialogue, singing, dancing, mime, clown characters, vocal impressions and film.

The writing is clever as well as movingly thought provoking ranging from characters in both her speech and her physical movement. She touches the heart while simultaneously showing the humorous side of 21st century society life in New York City.

Nevada Magazine’s 2015 Great Nevada Picture Hunt is now open for submissions. For 38 years, Nevada Magazine has highlighted the most beautiful images from around the Silver State, captured by local photographers. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to submit photos of Nevada’s wonderful scenery and people.

Honoring our services members is the theme of this weekend, and there will be a ceremony at Lone Mountain Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Local Works of Art Professional watercolorist and arts instructor, Dana Childs is embarking upon a major painting project that includes creating a series of watercolors of the Sierra Nevada as well as supporting a local youth art painting project in our local town of Genoa if the initial goal is met.

John Mackay and William Sharon were the wealthiest of the men to emerge from Nevada’s fabulous Comstock Lode. They were also the most influential. Mackay, who rose from poverty, was the hero of Virginia City, respected by its miners and mine owners, idolized by its children.
