Carson City Harley-Davidson hosts 3-day BikeFest during Street Vibrations with food, bands and fireworks

Oktoberfest brings taste of Germany to Lake Tahoe's Camp Richardson
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/21/2015 - 11:17amOktoberfest, the yearly celebration of all things German, will have a taste of California on the shores of Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson Historic Resort and Marina Oct. 3-4.
This popular annual event will feature German beers brewed here in the Golden State. Saint Archer Brewery of San Diego created a beer infused bratwurst exclusively for the event with its IPA. And another San Diego firm, Ballast Point’s Longfin Lager will be on pour.
Mile High Jazz Band Presents Autumn Jazz With Singers Jakki Ford and June Joplin
Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/19/2015 - 11:41amAs the days grow short, the Mile High Jazz Band is preparing "Autumn Jazz," a program of big-band music with vocalists Jakki Ford and June Joplin, on Tuesday, October 13, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street. General admission is $5 at the door; free for age 18 and under.
Among the tunes planned for the program are "Early Autumn," as a nod to the fall season; "Sweet Georgia Brown," long associated with basketball's Harlem Globetrotters; "The Heat's On"; and "Whodunnit?," the band's tribute to Halloween.

Carson Chamber Singers and Symphony Chorus begin rehearsals for 2015-16 season

The first rehearsal is Tuesday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m., at the Carson High School Choral Room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. Each group will perform in several concerts this season.
Rowan Brothers return to Carson City's Cafe at Adele’s with acoustic roots show

Each year about this time, Lorin Rowan and Chris Rowan bring patrons an evening of music that includes both new and old original songs and an array of everything from rock and pop to Americana and bluegrass.
Well versed in many genres and presented accoustically with beautiful harmonies, an evening with The Rowans is always a delight.
“This is something we always look forward to,” Lorin said.

Broadway comedy 'Defending the Caveman' to benefit Carson City Library

“It is all about the sexes and how they see and hear the same topics of conversation in very different ways,” said Phyllis Patton, president of the Friends of the Carson City Library. “We can all relate to at least one of these scenarios. It’s guaranteed laughter and elbow pokes to the ribs throughout the evening.”
CCAI Nevada Neighbors: Craft Now

Eight Nevada artists earn fellowships from Nevada Arts Council

Four artists were awarded FY16 Artist Fellowships Grants of $5,000, three artists the Fellowship honorable mention awards of $500, and one artist the Artist Fellowship Project Grant of $7,000.

Carson Nugget Casino Hosts Live Entertainment in Outdoor Venue Beginning Saturday

The first band in the series will be Mo’z Motley Blues Band who entertained during Taste of Downtown. They have a strong local following due to their versatility and infectious stage performance.
Statewide recycled art contest underway

Entrants must be Nevada residents and projects must be composed of used recyclable materials. Submission of an entry form and photos of artwork are due by October 25, 2015.

Michael S. Green, a leading Nevada historian, provides a detailed survey of the Silver State’s past, from the arrival of the early European explorers, to the predominance of mining in the 1800s, to the rise of world-class tourism in the twentieth century, and more recent attempts to diversify the economy.

Nevada Gunfighters bring the old West to life with drama, comedy, historical portrayals and live action tales. Period dialog and authentic costumes, along with props and backdrops enhance their productions. As an added benefit to their presentations, the audience is educated in gun safety.

Tom Wade grew up on a small farm in Michigan as the oldest son in a family of ten children, and honed his storytelling skills at the family dinner table. An energetic teller of mostly-true tales, Wade’s farm and family stories engage and delight people of all ages.

Mile High Jazz Band Presents "True Lies and Lullabies" Big Band Jazz and Poetry in Carson City

Each poem will be followed by a related big-band tune. The event will be at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City, outdoors in the adjacent courtyard, weather permitting. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.
