High winds prompt advisory for Carson City, surrounding counties ahead of winter storm

Gusty winds ahead of a winter storm has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory Tuesday through early Wednesday morning for Carson City and surrounding counties.
Nevada DMV adds 'Star of Life' to driver's licenses for those with medical conditions

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is improving motorist safety by offering drivers with certain medical conditions the option to add the “Star of Life” symbol on the front of their driver license or identification card.

Another winter storm system will move into Carson City and surrounding counties late Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing gusty winds, snow and cold temperatures, National Weather Service forecasters said.

The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team including North Lake Tahoe and North Tahoe fire protection districts, Nevada Division of Forestry and the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, will continue burning slash piles this week at Lake Tahoe, conditions and weather permitting.
