Carson City Republican Party Caucus and Precinct Meeting

February 8, 2024 (All day) The Precinct meeting is a gathering of neighbors for the election of precinct delegates to the county convention. This allows people to discuss candidates, issues and suggestions for the Carson City Republican Platform.
The Precinct Meeting is where people can also present resolutions which may be an idea, proposal, or a request for action on a certain subject. Resolutions and platform suggestions will be discussed and reviewed at the county convention.
One dead, 3 injured in avalanche at Lake Tahoe ski resort

TAHOE CITY — An avalanche Wednesday morning at Palisades Tahoe ski area resulted in one fatality, the Placer County Sheriff's Office says, with three injuries, according to the resort.

Our season starts on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, with a short meeting and continental breakfast at 9:00 a.m. and will have our shotgun at 9:30 a.m. Subsequent rounds are every Tuesday. UPDATE: Due to weather-related conditions, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, officials announced late Wednesday evening.
All employees and students should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur, including remote instruction. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.

Carson City Sheriff's Office warns about scammers pretending to be sheriff employees

Recently, Carson City residents have been contacted by scammers pretending to be the Carson City Sheriff’s Office employees. These scammers will tell the potential victims they have warrants for their arrest or they have missed jury duty.
The scammers will solicit personal information and then demand payment in some form, such as gift cards, cash applications, or bitcoin, to not be arrested.
64-year-old transient woman arrested in hectic encounter with Carson City deputies

A 64-year-old transient woman was arrested in the 300 block of N. Curry St. Tuesday afternoon for assault, battery and trespassing, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
New Leadership for the Carson City School Board for 2024

At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, the Carson City School District School Board of Trustees nominated and voted in new leadership for the Carson City school board. Trustee Joe Cacioppo, District 7, was named the newest president.
