Carson City man arrested for DUI after driving too fast in snow, causing crash Thursday evening

Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday evening, Carson City deputies were dispatched to the area of Fairview Drive and Butti Way on report of a crash involving an intoxicated subject.

When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with a 40-year-old Carson City man who was driving the at fault vehicle.

Weekend Storm update: With Rain and Snow on the horizon, expect icy conditions in Carson City and beyond

Those who were hoping for a brief respite from stormy conditions are out of luck I’m afraid.

Tonight, Friday Jan. 12, there is a slight chance of snow between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., followed by rain and snow. There is little or no snow accumulation expected according to the National Weather Service.

University of Nevada, Reno nonessential campus operations suspended for Friday

Due to weather and dangerous road conditions being more severe than anticipated, non-essential University of Nevada, Reno operations and in-person Wintermester classes will be suspended, today, Friday, Jan. 12. This applies to all University facilities in Washoe County, Douglas County and Carson City.

Governor again closes state government offices Friday in Northern Nevada

Due to the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety continuing to report severe weather and potentially dangerous road conditions, Gov. Joe Lombardo has ordered all State executive branch government offices (other than essential public safety and corrections personnel) remain closed on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County, Lyon County, Storey County, and Washoe County.

UPDATE: Western Nevada College and CDC closed again Friday due to road conditions

Western Nevada College's campuses in Carson City and Fallon, as well as the Child Development Center, will be closed today, Friday, Jan. 12, because of continued hazardous road conditions.

For the second straight day, Governor Joe Lombardo announced the closure of all state government offices in Northern Nevada.

Person of interest in Carson area business burglary sought by Douglas detectives

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a person of interest in a burglary of a business.
