Group to have rally before next Douglas County School District board meeting

The next meeting for the Douglas County School Board is on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. The day before will be a rally along US 395 from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The group "We Deserve A Better Board" hopes to fill the sidewalks through the middle of town with the color red and positive messages on signs to elevate their voice and show the community they want positive change.

Capitol City Gun Club Turkey Shoot happening Sunday

On Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City will host its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot at its Trap fields beginning at 9 a.m. Entry is $5 per ticket, with a limit of two turkeys per shooter. The Club is located at 3590 Arrowhead Drive.

It's no secret that the streets in Carson City need are in dire need of maintenance. It's been a longstanding issue for decades without any real solutions. Various politicians have floated ideas ranging from waiting for the federal government to provide funds to imposing new taxes. The most recent effort is of the latter.

USS Nevada sailor places wreath on ship’s memorial

One of the greatest warships that sailed for the U.S. Navy has been eternally etched into the Silver State’s history. The USS Nevada, which first saw action during World War I and then extensively during the second world war at Normandy and the Pacific theater, used her big guns and dedicated crew to help defeat the Axis powers in 1945.

Chief Master Sgt. Cameron Pieters to speak Wednesday to Carson City GOP women

The Ormsby Republican Women's Club will be meeting this Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Adam's Hub at 111 W. Proctor Street. Social hour is from 5:30-6:00 pm with the meeting from 6 to 7 pm, cost is $15 at the door. Our guest speaker is Chief Master Sgt. Cameron Pieters of the Nevada National Guard. He will be discussing current events and how women are taking a greater leadership role in the Guard.
