Boys high school lacrosse in Carson City informational meeting happening Thursday

High school level lacrosse is now available to all Carson City area boys ages 14 to 17 through the Carson Lax Club. Boys lacrosse is an outdoor contact sport with common elements of basketball and hockey.

Smoke in the valley coming from U.S. Forest Service prescribed burns

This morning, you may have woken up to a smoky horizon and the smell of fire on the air. No need to panic though; the smoke is coming from a routine (though quite large) prescribed burn handled by the U.S. Forest Service in the Inyo National Forest near Mammoth and June Lakes.

Carson City’s Shred Kids Ski and Snowboard Trips are back for 2024

Do you have a middle or high schooler ready to hit the slopes? Now’s your chance! Winter 2024 Shred Kids Ski and Snowboard Trips are returning with four Friday afternoon dates on Jan. 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 2.

This is a Middle School and High School Ski and Snowboard program. The program consists of four trips to Boreal Mountain Resort after school on Fridays.

The event is located inside the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall at 601 Clear Creek Rd. across from Costco, and this year over 45 vendors will be on site so you can find the perfect unique gifts for your loved ones this holiday season.

Car vs. building crash reported on E. William Friday night

A vehicle crash was reported just after 6 p.m. Friday night on E. William in the 1800 block.

The vehicle reportedly crashed into the side of a building and the driver is believed to be impaired according to dispatch.
