Heading into the Veterans Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days. Events include live comedy, art and heater, multiple holiday craft fairs around Carson City and Carson Valley as well as several Veterans Day ceremonies and offers of gratitude to vets and active duty members of the U.S. military on Monday. Saturday, November 2

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the second annual Evening with Divas in Carson City, a Día de Muertos celebration at the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Artists Association’s 40th anniversary celebration, paranormal ghost investigations in Virginia City, a pie baking contest in Gardnerville and much more!

A free Creation Seminar for all ages begins Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Carson City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 405 E College Pkwy, Carson City, Nev. Three more sessions occur on Saturday Nov. 2, at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Come and explore the wondrous works of our Creator with powerful object lessons, facts, and life-changing parables covering each day of the Creation week with Creation Illustrated magazine publishers Tom and Jennifer Ish.

Study guides, children's lessons and handouts, free gifts to those attending 3 or more meetings, and a free mid-day Saturday meal are included.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at the corner of Telegraph and Division streets will host its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Items available include hand-crafted notecards, hand-made apparel, accessories, and items for the home. Raggedy Ann dolls and Christmas bears will provide unique gifts.

The 12th Annual Scandinavian Festival brings the rich traditions of Norwegian history and culture to Carson City on Saturday, Oct 12. Demonstrations of traditional food and music along with examples of the traditional “Bunad” clothing.

Sierra Lutheran High School will host the 2nd Annual Christ IS Christmas Craft Fair November 9-10 in the Norm Brauer Gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A wide variety of over 40 vendors offering everything from handmade Christmas decorations and gifts, to food samples, to art and jewelry booths and much more will be on display throughout the weekend.

The Nevada Trucking Association, along with the Nevada Highway Patrol, California Highway Patrol and the entire trucking industry, is taking this week to honor the millions of professional truck drivers that deliver America’s freight safely and securely every day.

Moving into Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, there's another chance for thunderstorms headed our way and then a bit of a cool down going into the weekend. Looking around the capital city Thursday there's a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, auditions for V&T Railway's Polar Express, art showings, a host of activities at the Carson City Library, a Muscle Powered morning hike and more.

Heading into midweek, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019 and there's a chance of thunderstorms around the capital city with a cool down expected for the weekend. Looking ahead there's a new writer's group meeting — all aspiring wordsmiths welcome, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center, art demonstrations and more. Enjoy the day.

Going into Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, we're looking at sunshine and temperatures in the low 90s. Events around the capital city include a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a scary makeup demonstration at the Brewery Arts Center and the 1946 version of "The Postman Always Rings Twice," presented by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club. CARSON CITY — The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is thrilled to announce that their annual benefit concert, HopeFest9, raised over $225,000 in net proceeds. The event, which was held at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center on Friday, August 23, raised nearly $100,000 over 2018 event totals.

Heading into Thursday, August 29, 2019 and we're ready and due for the upcoming three-day holiday weekend ahead. Looking around the Carson City area for Thursday there's art showings, a Muscle Powered hike, a Partnership Carson City training and lunch and then a vigil to recognize and prevent opioid overdose and more.

As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

New York-based playwright, opera librettist, theatre critic, and arts journalist David Cote is the current visiting artist with the Resident Artist Program in historic Silver City, Nev.

While he's here in August and September, he hopes to draft a 70-minute, spoken, dramatic monologue for a male performer about carpentry, family, and faith. You can learn more about his creative process during a free, public talk at the Brick at 108 E Proctor Street in Carson City this Thursday August 22, 2019 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in an event that also includes a talk by Chicago-based sculptor Nicole Beck.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. We're heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with sunny skies and activities throughout the day including day 2 of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, Jazz and Beyond festival performances to complement Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC followed by a classic outdoor movie to boot, "West Side Story." There's also a free creative event: "Community Art Card, Creating Social Circle" at Comma Coffee, Salsa dancing and more. Enjoy the day.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

Heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 activities abound around the capital city. There's a new group for writers that meets at the Brewery Arts Center; a salary negotiation workshop at WNC, a chautauqua and author presentations at Dangberg Historic Park. There's also the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival that will feature the Wesley Orsolic Trio during Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC, with jams to continue at Living the Good Life; there's also a real estate workshop for veterans, art showings, salsa dancing and more. CARSON CITY — The Foundation at Carson Tahoe Health, which provides housing for cancer patients in need, has announced a new opportunity for interested donors to support initiatives and give with a new “Text-to-Donate” option.

CARSON CITY — Business may be Greek to many college freshmen, but it’s the heart language of Avery Casteel. Casteel, a 2018 graduate from Sierra Lutheran High School and a rising sophomore at Concordia University, Irvine used her first year in college to quickly grab ahold of the fast-climbing elevator to the executive suite for college students studying business.

The Nevada Artists Association Presents: The 2019 Judged Photography Show and The Members' Summer Show. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except Mondays through September 6. Come and see all the beautiful entries and vote for your top three People's Choice favorites in the Judged Photography Show.

Christian Encounter Ranch of Grass Valley, Calif., will hold its annual Agony Ride Fundraiser this Friday and Saturday, July 26th and 27th, in the Sierra Valley (about 1 hour northwest of Carson City off of Highway 70). During the event, cyclists commit to riding their bicycles as far as they can in 24 hours and are sponsored on a per-mile or flat rate basis.

Local rider Christopher Palmer, of Washoe Valley, will be riding for the 7th time this year. To date, he's ridden a total 1910 miles and raised more than $17,000 for the ministry.
