The annual4-H Fabric Sale sponsored by the Carson City, Storey County 4-H Council has been canceled for this year due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. The annual sale is traditionally held at Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in late January or early February.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is working with a third-party consultant to develop a master plan for the Fuji Park/Fairgrounds and is seeking information on the current use of the facilities as well as ideas on how the facilities can improve to better accommodate the community.

Today is Election Day. In person voting can be done at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Carson City Courthouse is not a polling location for the general election.

Carson City paramedics were called Thursday afternoon to the livestock area of Fuji Park after a 4-year-old child suffered injuries from an accident involving a horse.

In addition to mailing ballots through the U.S. Postal Service, Carson City voters can submit mail ballots in three ways:

1. Drive-up drop box at the east parking lot of Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road (look for the blue tent). 2. Drop box by the east exit of the Carson City Community Center 851 E. William St. (look for the blue tent). 3. At the counter of the Carson City Clerk's office, 885 E. Musser St., Suite 1025.

Early voting in Carson City begins tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 17 and will continue through Oct. 30.

While the seat for Ward 2 will be filled following the election on Nov. 4, another seat is open and will be filled by appointment.

The seat for Ward 3 is currently held by Supervisor Lori Bagwell, who will be vacating now that she has been elected Carson City’s mayor.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space announced March 18 its update on office and staffing changes, facility closures and program cancelations and postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Carson City officials are continuously monitoring the level of risk of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) to the community. In close coordination with Carson City Health and Human Services, the City Manager’s Office along with City departments in an abundance of caution are coordinating the closure of some offices to take additional measures to slow the spread of respiratory viruses. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. The Michael Furlong Band will rock the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City at "A Face in the Crowd," a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute show this Saturday night, March 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the band will keep Tom Petty fans on the dance floor until the show wraps up at 10 p.m.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. When disaster strikes, emergency response teams ramp up quickly to safeguard lives. Providing immediate shelter is often a first priority. In order to practice and ensure the safety of our residents, the Red Cross of Northern Nevada, in collaboration with emergency management from Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties, will set up two simulated shelters next month.

The Fuji Park playground adjacent to the Fuji Park Dog Park has been closed due to repairs, according to David Navarro, Parks Operations Superintendent from the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, and is set to be reopened sometime in March, although the time frame is dependent on an order of new parts for the playground.

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

The popular 4-H Fabric sale returns to Fuji Park Exhibit building, 701 Clear Creek Road, Carson City, on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2.

Sales times for Saturday, Feb. 1 are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Sunday, Feb. 2 , sales times will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Fabrics of all kinds and sewing notions will be available for purchase. Most fabric will be sold for a dollar a yard. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Carson City, Storey County's 4-H Council scholarship funds.
