Cellist Stephen Framil, visiting from Philadelphia to perform with the Carson City Symphony, will hold a Masterclass for Cellists on Thursday, April 25, 3:00-4:30 p.m., in the Band Room at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

At the class, five selected cellists will participate, and observers are welcome. The class, sponsored by the Carson City Symphony Association, is open to the public. Admission is free.

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, will perform "A Celebration in Two Sharps" on Sunday, April 28, 4 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street. Guest soloist Stephen Framil will play the Cello Concerto by Antonín Dvořák.

The program also features Wagner's Overture to "Rienzi" and Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony. All three compositions are associated with keys having two sharps, D major and B minor.

The Friends of the Carson City Library will welcome comedienne Paula Poundstone in concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater in Carson City on Friday, March 29.

Carson City Music Club will feature the Carson City Symphony Woodwind trio in concert March 11, 2013. The performance at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall will begin at 7 P.M. The Carson City Symphony Association presents the Carson Chamber Singers in a pair of concerts dedicated to victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December. The first concert will be on Friday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 212 N. Division Street, Carson City. The second will be on Sunday, March 10, at 5:00 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Avenue, Reno. General admission is $10, free for youth age 16 and under.

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will perform "Legends, Fairy Tales, and Dances" on Sunday, Feb. 24, 4 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street in Carson City.

It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Mile High Jazz Band presents the tenth annual Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza, on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 7:30 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
The concert, sponsored by the Carson High Jazz Band and the Mile High Jazz Band Association, is a benefit for the Carson High Jazz Band programs.

New Year's weekend comes amplified at Lake Tahoe MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa with three jam-packed nights of SnowGlobe Music Festival after-parties featuring performances by several top-billed concert favorites including Chromeo, Flosstradamus and Mimosa.

It might have been raining across much of Northern California, but last week’s storm brought snow to Lake Tahoe ski resorts – more than 3.5 feet of the white stuff, making for a great ski weekend.

“You just never know how these storms are going to play out,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andy Chapman of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association. “But Mother Nature cooperated and we’ve got new snow on the mountains.”

The Carson City Symphony presents the 29th annual Holiday Treat concert on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. The Symphony will be joined by the newly formed Carson City Symphony Chorus and the Victorian Dancers. Pre-concert entertainment begins at 3 p.m. Conducted by David Bugli, the symphony will perform several works of Christmas and Hanukkah music. Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its third annual "This is Not a Christmas Concert" on Tuesday, December 4, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.

About 80 string players, including Carson City public-, private-, and home-schooled students, and students from surrounding areas, will perform several pieces, from classics to folk and fiddle tunes, including Pachelbel's Canon in D, Lackawanna Locomotive, and Japanese Hoedown. Admission is free.

“Christmas in the Sierra Concert, featuring David John and the Comstock Cowboys, returns to the historic Genoa Town Hall. This musical stage performance is in the old west style that truly warms the heart with the magic of the season. There are two performances, 5 pm and 8 pm. Reserved seating only. Tickets are $20 for concert only. A No host bar will be in the Town Hall. Nevada Day festivities continue in Carson City through Sunday, today, with the RSVP Carnival and the Battle Born Celebration at Mills Park, a free symphony concert at the Legislative Mall and Halloween festivities.
The salute to America's military "past, present and future" is the theme of this year's statehood events. Featured at the park is the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, living history re-enactments, tributes and military honors and static displays. Go here for more information.

Sunny skies and crisp fall temperatures are in motion for the 74th annual Nevada Day Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. down Carson Street in Carson City. The three-hour four mile-long parade features hundreds of colorful floats, high-stepping equestrian units, and spirited marching bands from throughout the state. The traditional 10 a.m. flyover of military aircraft from the Fallon Naval Air Station and Nevada Air Guard will kick-off the parade.

After the first half of the concert, harmonica player Tom Stryker will lead a harmonica workshop for youth attending the concert. Each will be given a harmonica and learn to play a tune. After intermission, they will perform on stage.

CARSON CITY – The two candidates in the race for the state Senate District 5 seat in Henderson debated the issues today in a televised exchange, finding more agreement than division on the all important subject of education reform.

Pianist, educator, and scholar Carl Petersson will present a seminar on life and music of composer Leopold Godowsky on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., at Nightingale Concert Hall in the Church Fine Arts Building at the University of Nevada,
1335 N. Virginia Street, in Reno. Petersson's lecture includes visuals and live piano performance, followed by an informal question-and-answer discussion. It is open to piano students and the general public, admission free.
