SENarts continues beyond the 2013 legislative session
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 09/17/2013 - 1:46pmThe Brewery Arts Center in Carson City has joined the SENarts Partnership, collaborating with the Nevada Division of Museums and the Nevada Arts Council to bring high-quality art experiences to the state Legislative Building.
As one component of this partnership, the Nevada Senate and the Brewery Arts Center jointly announced Tuesday that a new art show comprised of about 50 pieces by local art students has been installed on the second floor of the Legislative Building and would be in place for four months.

She set out to create a project that fused her passions for music, travel and writing into a unique creative work. “An American Songline” was born as a cross-country musical journey that takes her from New York to San Francisco along the Lincoln Highway, America's first transcontinental road, to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013.
Jazz vocalist LaTisha Lewis set to play Adele's Thursday
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/13/2013 - 1:38pmThere is a scheduling change announced for two dates of Café at Adele’s Summer Concert Series on the Veranda. Jazz vocalist LaTisha Lewis performs Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
New World Jazz Project and Niall McGuinness were originally slated to play that date. They will now perform Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. to accommodate shortened daylight hours.

Cowboy songs, storytelling with Mike Beck featured at Adele's Summer Concert Series

A favorite performer on the Cowboy Poetry circuit, singer-songwriter, poet and working cowboy Beck is touring in support of his album “Tribute,” which showcases original horse songs written through the years, raising money for The Joyful Horse Project, a non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas that pairs combat veterans with rescue horses being trained for rehabilitation.

And those attending Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project headlined by WAR and its leader of more than 40 years, Lonnie Jordon, will have two women to thank when John Street adjacent to Café at Adele’s in Carson City, becomes a happy place of sorts July 9.
Growing up in Compton, Calif., Jordon may have spent more time listening to the old guys who were gathered on porches playing music than he should have, a fact he’s quick to say he’s not proud of.

The two-night show marks the return of sprint cars to the track after a seven-year absence. It is also the debut of this prestigious west coast racing series at the newly-reconfigured 3/8 mile oval at Reno-Tahoe-Fernley Speedway. These winged beasts are powered by 410 cubic inch, 900 horsepower engines that will propel them to breathtaking speeds on the track's high-banks.

The concert will be at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City. It includes a workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for string players of all ages, a potluck lunch, and a public concert beginning at 3:00 p.m. Admission to the festival and the concert is free, donations welcome.

Café at Adele’s 'Dining Out for Life' on Thursday to benefit HIV awareness

On Thursday, April 25, Café at Adele’s will donate 20 percent of every dining ticket total to Northern Nevada Hopes so the non-profit organization can continue its work of raising awareness about and providing STD, HIV and Hepatitis C testing, as well as providing extensive support and medical care for those living with HIV in northern Nevada.
