For over 20 years Mumbo Gumbo has been one of Northern California's top groups, releasing 9 original CDs and collecting numerous "Sammie" and "Best of Sacramento awards. CARSON CITY – Legislative Democrats went ahead today with their own funding plan for public education, establishing a level of spending that puts the budget at significant odds with GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval and his opposition to new taxes.
The votes by Democrats have upped the ante in the budget dispute with Republicans, creating a hole estimated at $700 million by state Budget Director Andrew Clinger.

The Carson City Symphony will play Saturday April 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carson Community Center with a program of "Dances and Romances" featuring guest harpist Marina Roznitovsky. Sounds like a concert not to be missed.

Roznitovsky will join the symphony for Saint-Saens' Morceau de Concert for Harp and Orchestra. Conducting will be David Bugli. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for seniors, students and Symphony Association members. Those 16 and under are admitted free.

Wally Cuchine, a champion of the Arts, officially retired April 8 with a big send up from people from around the State, including proclamations of “Wally Cuchine Day” from Governor Brian Sandoval and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell at a concert at the Eureka Opera House with Ralph Cuda and the Dixieland Boys.

Every summer Minden throws a series of concerts in Minden Park, under the bandstand. It’s a good excuse for the community to get together, have a picnic, and listen to some music.

Strings in the Schools conducted by Sue Jesch with Gairin will hold a Celtic music concert at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City. Concert begins at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
