Carson City area weather: Some fog Monday morning, next storm system late in the week
There's a break ahead from significant storms across Carson City, western Nevada and Sierra, though the fog may return to the valley floors Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A quiet weather pattern will be in place over the next couple of days, with the chance of fog returning around Reno, Washoe Valley, Carson City and Carson Valley on Monday morning.
In the short term, there's some welcomed sunshine ahead with light winds both in valleys and at ridge tops and a slight chance for light snow showers in the Sierra from Tuesday into Wednesday. Nothing significant in the valleys.
Looking ahead, the next system should set up a bit farther to the north beginning Thursday. The National Weather Service says the "ensembles" are predicting high probability of a weak atmospheric river reaching the northern California coast and pushing inland with this system, which could lead to some decent precipitation totals Friday into Saturday.
This system, at least for now, could bring more rain to Carson City and Reno and snow, with levels rather high — 8,000 to 9,000 feet — for mountains above Lake Tahoe and Mono County.
