Early morning fog Friday morning at the stop light of East College Parkway and Lompa Lane in Carson City. The hills north of the airport are gone, swallowed by the fog trapped in the Carson Valley.

Overlooking the valley covered in low clouds with a secluded cabin nestled on the ridge near Heavenly on Saturday.

Light snow fell across parts of western Nevada and the northern Sierra overnight. The heaviest snow of several inches fell along the Sierra Front around Carson City and Minden, south of Reno and the Tahoe basin from Highway 50 south to Markleeville. Other areas saw a light snowfall and water on the roadways has frozen.

There's a break ahead from significant storms across Carson City, western Nevada and Sierra, though the fog may return to the valley floors Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The spirit of the Christmas season was alive in the streets of downtown Carson City on Friday and Saturday nights. The first three photos are of the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights celebration and were taken by Lynn McCarthy. Happy Saturday Carson City! Tired of the fog yet? Well, there's a big storm that's scheduled to push in tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how that changes the weather.

I've got to say, I have lived in Carson City all my life and this past week is the most fog I have ever seen in our capital. It led to some pretty scary road conditions for some, but it also led to some great photo opportunities.

With a weekend of Christmas holiday events across the Carson City region, it looks like Mother Nature will be active with valley rain beginning late Friday and feet of snow in the Sierra through Sunday.

A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night near the area of Appion Way and Center Drive for suspicion of DUI first and using an improper right turn, a sheriff's report states.

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the 2700 block of Sherman Lane for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and five misdemeanor offenses.

Legend tells of a terrifying monster that is supposed to reside in the depths of Walker Lake who has been sighted for centuries. For years, Cecil even had his own float in the Nevada Day Parade.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle accident in which a vehicle had driven through two fences and had come to a stop in the backyard of a residence on Quinn Drive.

A 25 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:19 a.m. in the area of East Fifth Street and North Saliman Road for misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Car lovers have two shows to choose from today: spectators will be able to enjoy both, but you’ll have to pick one if you want to enter your ride. Keep reading for more summertime fun.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle. A 21-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday morning for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The afternoon ice cream social at the historic Foreman-Roberts House is a perfect family-friendly treat before heading to the Brewery Arts Center for tonight’s free concert. A 31 year-old Reno woman was arrested Friday afternoon at 2:07 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Carson Street on a pair of felony violations, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including burglary and grand larceny.

Yeah, it’s hot out there, but it’s the area happenings that are sizzling. The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park offers a plethora of entertainment for all ages including tractor pulls, a carnival, and farm animals. Under the shade of the Mills Park cottonwoods, you’ll have all day to peruse the varied vehicles in the annual Run Whatcha Brung Car Show. The sun will come out tomorrow, but it’s the stars that are coming out tonight for the free Levitt Amp Concert at the Brewery Arts Center.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time. This might be the biggest happening in town, but it’s by no means the only good time: read on for all this weekend’s options.
