Thanksgiving at Granlibakken brings Lake Tahoe home without the work
A traditional Lake Tahoe holiday stay at Granlibakken resort means skiing, snowplay, zipline, board games by the fireplace, spa treatments and relaxing. It’s also a sumptuous feast prepared by resort staff, a rollicking atmosphere of good cheer amid an authentic lodge setting with roaring fire and best of all, no dirty dishes or clean up, rather a take home box for any leftovers.
Granlibakken’s Thanksgiving repast will include all the homemade favorites: roasted turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and additional desserts. Holiday dinners at the resort are served family style and just like home, include leftovers.
Taking it outdoors, Granlibakken’s new Treetop Adventure Park will be open for Thanksgiving (weather permitting) and throughout the winter season on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
As California’s first-of-its-kind Treetop Adventure Park, it’s been described as “ropes course meets zipline on steroids.” It’s set along the tree tops, 30 feet off the ground where fully harnessed guests can zip, climb, walk and maneuver their way through a number of obstacles, each with varying degrees of skills and challenges.
The Treetop Adventure Park reflects the resort’s passion toward outdoor enjoyment by complementing on-site amenities including cross country and snowshoe trails, Tahoe’s original ski hill, heated outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna and a full-service spa – all surrounded by 74 acres of trees in a quiet valley setting.
For more adrenaline-packed action, Granlibakken is partnering with several popular ski resorts – including Squaw Valley USA, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, Alpine Meadows, Homewood Mountain Resort, Sugar Bowl, Mt. Rose, Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe – with ski and lodging packages starting at $145 mid-week.
At Granlibakken, a lift ticket to ski or snowboard its Ski and Sledding Hill is $24 for adults, $14 for kids; a saucer and all-day access is $12. Skis, snowboards, cross-country skis and snowshoes are available for rent.
Granlibakken’s accommodations range from cozy lodge rooms to studios with fireplaces and kitchens, to one-to-eight bedroom townhomes. The package lift ticket is also exchangeable for a $65 credit for on-site amenities at the Lighthouse Spa or the Tahoe Cross Country Center to explore miles of historic cross-country ski trails.
Lighthouse Spa has a menu of wellness packages including therapeutic massage, skin care, spa manicures, pedicures, holistic body treatments, body waxing and health consultations from a staff of professional therapists.
Granlibakken, home to the 1932 Olympic ski jumping trials, maintains its rustic charm while blending tradition and technology with free Wi-Fi throughout the resort and ground transportation from Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Thanksgiving packages are still available and include dinner for four, daily hot breakfast and a two-night stay, starting at $389/night.
