Carson City weather: Cold air and possible snow ahead for Thanksgiving holiday period
A very cold system is likely to impact the region Thanksgiving week bringing snow showers and a significant cool down, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
High temperatures in the warmest valleys will only be in the 30s starting Wednesday, possibly lasting into next weekend. While confidence is high in the cold, subtle changes in the exact track of the storm can have significant changes in how much total snowfall the area sees, which is why confidence remains low in snow totals.
Forecasters say they expect a stormy period with snow showers impacting the region Tuesday and Wednesday which will likely impact travel ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The weather service advises to keep an eye on the forecast, have a winter travel kit, and a possible travel back-up plan.
