Motorcyclist dies in three-vehicle Carson City accident
A male motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle accident Friday night in Carson City.
Two vehicles and a motorcycle crashed near the intersection of Clearview and South Carson Street. Three were transported by helicopter and one by ambulance. Two of the three transported by helicopter were juveniles, confirmed Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong
The scene of the accident, in the southbound lane between Clearview Lane and Eagle Station Drive, has been the location of several fatalities over the years, Furlong said.
"They've all been right there," he said. "The last fatality we had, a pedestrian accident, was within feet of where this one was."
Traffic at South Carson Street/Highway 395 in Carson City continues to remain diverted as of 12:45 this morning. The accident happened near Taco Bell and Wendy's on South Carson Street.
The accident, reported at 10:10 Friday night, closed South Carson Street/Highway 395 and Clearview Lane as helicopters landed to transport the victims. Officers remain on the scene this morning, continuing to investigate what may have caused the head-on accident.
Two Care Flight air ambulances and a Cal Star helicopter each landed on the highway within minutes of each other, picking up the accident victims.
Paramedics on the scene confirmed at least three people who suffered life-threatening injuries. A call to Carson City Fire Department on-duty personnel has not been returned, likely because they are at the accident scene.
A third accident victim was transported at 10:48 p.m. by Cal Star to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The two other accident victims are also believed to have been transported to Renown.
